Greater Washington County Food Banks Hosts Inaugural Spring Clean Up Recycling Event

Join us on Earth Day for a Spring Clean Up! Bring items to be recycled, and stay for activities and volunteering opportunities! If you have questions, please call Cherise at 724-632-2190 x 114 or email at

We will have a one-way drive-thru model with staff and volunteers to accept your donations of cardboard, clear plastics, TVs and Computer Monitors, ink cartridges, glass, aluminum, yard waste (leaves and grass clippings), plastic shopping bags, shoes to be donated to Country Thrift Market, and non-perishable canned goods for the Food Bank. These are the only items we will accept during this day, and we appreciate any pre-organizing you may do ahead of time into these categories. All donations can be brought to 909 National Pike W., Brownsville PA 15417 between 8AM and 3PM. Signs at our facility will direct you, and our staff/volunteers will be there to accept your recyclables. Please note that we will be accepting only items on our list, and all other items will not be accepted.

We will have a number of activities, including making door/pet mats from recycled plastic bags, seminars on composting on-site, repurposing old tires, and making bird houses. We will also have tree seeding giveaways and plant divisions, dirt pudding, and more!

We are looking for volunteers to help on Earth Day, April 22nd, and if you are able to help, please sign up by clicking here to be taken to our volunteer sign up.
