Brownsville, PA (December 6, 2021) – Diversified Energy Company PLC partnered with Country Thrift Market, a division of Food Helpers, this past Saturday to help distribute 200 brand-new winter jackets children in grades K-6 this holiday season. Registration for the event was first announced November 2nd on social media and quickly filled up with families in need of extra warmth.
When families arrived, they were greeted with a surprise benefit of a $10 voucher to Country Thrift Market to help with anything else that might be need as well as a free holiday meal with sides, provided by Greater Washington County Food Bank. Children were able to pick out which coat they preferred, as well as being greeted with free holiday treats and pictures with Santa.
The coats, with an approximate value of $50 each, was paid for by a $10,000 donation from Diversified Energy Company PLC and their desire to bring some holiday cheer to children of local families in need this holiday season.
“Every child in Washington County should have a warm coat this winter and Diversified is excited to be a part of making sure they do. Food Helpers and Country Thrift Market do so much good for this community. This is just the beginning of what we hope to be a long-term partnership,” said Jason Mounts, Director of Operations for Diversified Energy.
“As the weather turns chilly, we see a large donation of winter jackets come into the store, but it’s never enough,” said Adrienne Ewing, Country Thrift Market Store Manager. “This event allows hundreds of families to avoid the hard discussion of allocating money towards coats, or allocating towards putting food on the table.”
In addition, Diversified Energy presented Food Helpers with a $5,000 donation towards food programs.
Country Thrift Market is open to the public, offering discounted food and snack products, discounted personal care and hygiene products, as well as home goods, clothing for men, women, and children, and other various items for resale. Net proceeds from Country Thrift Market fund various food programs and activities for its parent organization, Food Helpers.
